S7 Airlines Baggage Allowance Policy And Fees

S7 Airlines can take one main carry-on bag, and one additional personal item on board by the passengers. The cabin weight allowance depends on the ticket class of fare: a passenger could carry up to 10 kg (22 lbs) in Economy or up to 15 kg (33 lbs) in Business Class. The primary carry-on should not exceed 55 x 40 x 20 cm, and the personal item should not exceed 40 x 30 x 15 cm. Additional items that are allowed on board include a coat, umbrella, reading materials, and small electronic devices.

Any excess baggage over and above these cabin allowances needs to be checked in. Extra fees are charged on such baggage. A passenger needs to check in his baggage at least two hours prior to the scheduled departure time.

S7 Airlines Checked Baggage Allowance

The free baggage allowance depends on the type of fare, and the route and is for economy class. Basic economy fare tickets have no baggage free, while Flex has one piece up to 23 kg. Business classes can carry two pieces that are 32 kg each with maximum dimensions of 158 cm in total linear sum: length + width + height.

Passengers may pre-book excess baggage allowance on the website or in the airline call center before arrival for cheaper rates than having to pay for it at the airport. The excess baggage will always be charged based on its weight, and excess baggage is always quoted per kilogram.

Sporting Equipment and Musical Instruments

Sporting equipment is accepted as checked baggage on S7 Airlines. Skis, snowboards, golf equipment, and bikes are allowed with a stipulation of the availability of free space and strict packing conditions in the luggage. The weights of all these items will not exceed 32kg or 70 lbs; while some equipment would attract specific handling fees.

All sports apparatus must be packed with adequate protective cases or bags. Articles exceeding 203 cm (80 inches) in overall dimensions may require prior special approval and special handling arrangements, which must also be made in advance.

Musical Instruments

S7 Airlines accepts the carriage of musical instruments provided they comply with the usual size for carry-on baggage and within the passenger’s cabin baggage allowance. Luggage exceeding cabin baggage measurements but up to 115 cm in length may also be accepted in the cabin, space permitting, and must be arranged in advance with the airline.

For instruments that need to travel as checked baggage, they must be packed in rigid cases and provided with appropriate padding. The airline advises taking out additional insurance for instruments that are particularly valuable. Sensitive instruments may be carried as special handling but an advanced arrangement needs to be done.
