Pakistan International Airways Cabin Baggage Allowance 

PIA permits the passengers to carry one hand luggage and one personal item in the cabin. The weight of cabin baggage should not exceed 7 kg for Economy Class and 10 kg for Business Class. The primary bag must be within the defined dimensions so that it can be accommodated in the overhead compartment. The other small items that can be carried include a laptop, handbag, camera, or reading material.

All carry-on baggage above cabin allowance needs to be checked in. It is advisable that the passengers check in three hours prior to international, and two hours prior to national.

Pakistan International Airways Checked Baggage Allowance 

Free checked baggage allowance onboard differs with the route and cabin of travel:

• Economy class: 23kg
• Business class: 40 kg
• First Class: 50kg

Excess baggage allowance can be booked in advance at the PIA website or call center. Booking excess baggage in advance will save money as compared to airport payment. Any single piece of baggage weighing more than 32kg (70 lbs) will not be carried since it is deemed not safe.

PIA carries sporting equipment as checked baggage based on the available space. This includes the following:

Sporting equipment shall not weigh more than 32kg (70 lbs) per piece. Items shall be carried suitably in protective cases. Certain sporting equipment will need advance approval and possibly extra handling charges.

Musical Instruments

Musical instruments can be carried as: 

• Cabin baggage provided they comply with cabin size requirements and are within the free permitted weight of cabin baggage 
• Checked baggage if they exceed cabin baggage size

For carriage in the cabin, instruments shall not weigh more than:

• Dimensions: 45 x 120 x 40 cm (17.7 x 47.2 x 15.7 inches)
• Weight: As cabin baggage of the passenger

Large instruments must be checked in and must be packed in hard cases for protection. Special handling requirements may apply to some instruments, and extra charges might be incurred.
