Middle Eastern Airline Cabin Baggage Allowance 

Middle East Airlines lets carry one cabin baggage alongside one personal item in the cabin. For economy class customers, the permissible weight it has up to 8 kg hand baggage, however, in cedar class or business class, it can go as high as up to 10 kg. The dimensions of the primary luggage are not supposed to be larger than 55 x 35 x 25 cm. Laptops, handbags, and briefcases are permitted to be taken along with carry-on allowances.

All passengers’ hand baggage exceeding the cabin baggage allowance printed above needs to be checked into baggage. Ideally, check in at least three hours before scheduled departure for international flights.

Middle Eastern Airline Checked Baggage Allowance 

The number of pieces and weight can vary depending upon the route and fare class for checked baggage on MEA. A 2-piece checked baggage allowance is permitted at 32 kg each in Cedar Class (Business). For Economy Class 1-2 pieces are allowed at 23 kg each, depending upon the route and fare type.

Extra baggage beyond the free allowance incurs excess baggage charges, which are route-dependent and either weight or piece-dependent based on the destination.

Sporting Equipment and Musical Instruments 

MEA accepts sporting equipment as checked baggage but only when there is space available. This includes:

  • Golf equipment
  • Skiing equipment
  • Diving gear
  • Bicycles if properly packed

Some sporting goods items may require special handling charges. Only one sporting article is allowed with a maximum of 32 kg in weight. It must also be packed so as not to break during shipment.

Musical Instruments

Musical instruments would either be hand-carried or checked provided they meet the size specifications, such as:

Cabin Musical Instruments:

  • Should fit in any of the size requirements in carry-on 
  • Count toward the carry-on allowance 
  • Soft violins and guitars are also accepted.

Checked Musical Instruments:

  • Not exceeding maximum size and weight, restricted under standard rules and special fees. 
  • Special handling of valuable instruments. 
  • For musical instruments whose size exceeds normal dimensions, passengers must inform MEA in advance to obtain special arrangements.
