Philippine Airlines Cabin Baggage Allowance 

Philippine Airlines is also permitted to carry a maximum of one carry-on bag and one personal item into the cabin. Total cabin baggage weight should not be over 7 kg in Economy Class and 12 kg in Business Class. Size for the main carry-on bag should not be over 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm or 22 in. x 14 in. x 9 in. Cabin Baggage Personal items including laptops, handbags, or small backpacks must be stowed under the seat in front of you.

All cabin baggage in excess of these allowances must be checked in and applicable excess baggage charges will apply. Passengers are advised to check in at least three hours before international flights and two hours before domestic flights.

Philippine Airlines Checked Baggage Allowance 

Philippine Airlines offers generous free checked baggage allowances that vary by route and cabin class:

  • Economy Class: 20-25kg depending on fare type
  • Premium Economy: 25-30kg
  • Business Class: 30-40kg
  • Mabuhay Miles Elite Members: 10-15kg more

Every piece of baggage shall not exceed a maximum weight of 32kg (70 lbs) for safety reasons. Excess baggage may be pre-purchased at the airline website, or in the airport itself at a higher rate applied.

Sporting Equipment and Musical Instruments 

Sporting equipment shall be accommodated as checked baggage of Philippine Airlines subject to space availability. Proper packaging requirements apply to golf equipment, diving gear, surfboards, and bicycles. Sporting equipment including the above, are allowed at 32 kg per piece. They are to be properly packed with appropriate protective cases.

Special handling fees may apply to some sporting equipment items. Booking is very much encouraged. Oversized baggage charges will be applied to sporting equipment items that exceed the standard size and weight restrictions.

Musical Instruments 

The airline accepts musical instruments as carry-on baggage if they are within the requirements of the following: Should fit in carry-on size restrictions Should not exceed the weight allowance for cabin baggage Should be in a hard-shell case

Instruments that are more than cabin baggage in dimension can be checked into as hold luggage. Such luggage has to be packed carefully in rigid cases to prevent damage during transport. Valuable instruments are also suggested to be covered by the passengers with additional baggage insurance.

Guitar cases and other string instruments are allowed in the cabin if space is available and should be stowed in overhead bins. Boarding priority will be given to passengers carrying musical instruments to ensure enough storage space.
