Ryanair Cabin Baggage Allowance 

All passengers, including those traveling on the same Ryanair flight, have been permitted to carry one free-of-charge small personal baggage bag under the seat in front of the passenger. Moreover, for extra cabin allowances, passengers have to procure Priority & 2 Cabin Bags, with which they may carry:

  • 1 small personal bag (40 x 20 x 25cm) 
  • 1 cabin baggage (55x 40 x 20 cm) up to10 kg

Priority & 2 Cabin Bags can be paid for online in advance when booking or added at booking up until 40 minutes before a flight’s scheduled departure time, but are allocated subject to and may not be available on a specific flight.

Ryanair Checked Baggage Allowance 

Ryanair does not have a free checked baggage allowance. Customers can choose from:

  • 10kg Check-in Bag
  • 20kg Check-in Bag

The charges for checked baggage vary with:

  • Season (peak/off-peak)
  • Route
  • When the bag is booked (during initial booking/later/at the airport)

Any extra weight above that which has been paid for will incur an excess baggage charge of €/£11 per kilogram at the airport.

Sporting Equipment and Musical Instruments 

Ryanair allows a variety of sporting equipment as checked baggage, including:

  • Golf clubs
  • Skis
  • Bicycles
  • Fishing equipment

All sporting equipment must be booked in advance and are available for a fixed charge per one-way trip of €/£35-€/£60. All sporting equipment must be packed in a protective container and weigh no more than 20kg.

Musical Instruments:

Musical instruments of small size (violins, guitars, etc) may be carried on board as cabin baggage if:-

  • They are within cabin baggage size
  • Priority & 2 Cabin Bags is purchased.
  • The instrument will be fitted in a hard shell case

Larger instruments are to be booked as checked luggage and will incur standard luggage fees. It is always advisable that passengers purchase enough insurance since Ryanair’s liability for instruments lost or damaged is only up to some extent.
